For many years, Alison has shared her love of gardening with me–of creating and enjoying spaces that draw us into the natural world and create a respite from daily life. She has both a practical and a spiritual approach to gardening, because working with green things not only creates natural beauty we can enjoy but is also restorative. She has shared the bounty of her own garden and encouraged me to know and love the plants and flowers in our yard–in every season–as well introduce new plants that fit into our landscape. She has also taught me to be attentive to the birds and other living things that are attracted to everything green and growing.
